Upwardly Mobile Coffee is more than just a clever name, it's an ethos of rising up and helping others along the way. For every dozen donuts we sell, we give a dozen to the homeless. We're also committed to hiring first from the homeless as the business expands and setting aside 10% net profits every quarter towards building permanent housing for the homeless. The majority of housing will be part of the compensation package for future-hires (along with a living wage and health insurance), but 30% of housing will be dedicated for the elderly and disabled that are unable to work. Everyone deserves a home and chance at a better future.
The Founder and Owner of Upwardly Mobile Coffee is Matthew Broberg-Moffitt, author of the forthcoming debut food aversion cookbook COLOR TASTE TEXTURE (Spring 2023 Avery Books/Penguin Random House). Matthew has bylines with Thinknum Media and SFWA.org. He is a classically trained chef, former counselor, computer repair tech, and one-time Buddhist Monk.
